Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Nursing Services to lead our nursing team and ensure the delivery of exceptional resident care across our healthcare facilities. This pivotal role involves overseeing nursing operations, managing staff, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive nursing experience in assisted living, nursing homes, home health, or hospice care, and a passion for enhancing patient outcomes. As a key member of our leadership team, you will drive quality improvement initiatives, foster a compassionate care environment, and ensure adherence to all regulatory standards.

Duties

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all nursing services, ensuring high-quality resident care aligned with organizational goals.
  • Supervise and mentor nursing management staff, including nurse managers and supervisors, fostering professional development and team cohesion.
  • Develop, review, and update care plans tailored to individual resident needs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations such as Medicare and HIPAA.
  • Oversee the management of medical records, documentation review, and accurate recordkeeping using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare laws and regulations related to assisted living, nursing home operations, hospice care, home health services, and acute care settings.
  • Monitor shift management to optimize staffing levels while maintaining quality standards; coordinate scheduling to ensure 24/7 coverage.
  • Lead efforts in quality assurance programs including MDS (Minimum Data Set) assessments to evaluate resident status and improve care delivery.
  • Facilitate communication between interdisciplinary teams to promote seamless coordination of care for residents’ physical health, mental well-being, and safety.
  • Conduct regular audits of medical records and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • Stay current on industry trends such as Medicare policies, care regulations, and advances in physiology and anatomy knowledge to inform best practices.

Skills

  • Extensive experience in Long Term Care, Assisted Living facilities, home health agencies, or hospice care environments.
  • Proven management skills with supervising experience in nursing administration or nurse management roles.
  • Deep understanding of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and clinical procedures relevant to diverse healthcare settings.
  • Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for documentation review and medical records management.
  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate teams while managing shift schedules effectively.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements including HIPAA compliance and Medicare guidelines.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with staff members, residents’ families, physicians, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to implement care plans that prioritize resident safety, comfort, and well-being while adhering to legal standards.
