Amphenol is seeking motivated, hands-on Mechanical and Electrical Engineering students to join our immersive Summer Internship Program. This is an exciting opportunity to gain real-world engineering experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment supporting product development and innovation.

As an Engineering Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers to contribute to real projects that support customer applications and high-performance product solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Development

  • Assist engineers in developing innovative mechanical and electromechanical design solutions.

  • Apply first-principles engineering approaches to optimize parts through structural, thermal, and tolerance analysis.

  • Support product performance, manufacturability, and reliability improvements.

Product Documentation & Design Reviews

  • Generate, update, and maintain detailed engineering documentation and drawings.

  • Participate in design reviews to evaluate performance, manufacturability, and reliability.

  • Create and maintain documentation for all design activities.

Hands-On Engineering & Testing

  • Support prototyping, testing, and validation efforts.

  • Develop and execute test plans to verify product performance and reliability.

  • Troubleshoot product and process issues using analytical and creative problem-solving.

Technical Support & Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams during various stages of development.

  • Support small engineering projects or tasks with ownership and accountability.

  • Observe manufacturing processes and provide input for design-for-manufacturing improvements.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in:

    • Mechanical Engineering

    • Electrical Engineering

    • Mechatronics or related STEM field

  • Must be at least a second-year college student with at least one year of STEM coursework completed.

  • Proficiency in at least one 3D CAD program (SolidWorks or CREO preferred).

  • Basic understanding of GD&T and tolerance analysis.

  • Strong engineering fundamentals, including a basic understanding of electronics.

  • Experience designing mechanical parts or assemblies through academic or project work (portfolio encouraged).

Nice to Have

  • Experience with high-volume manufacturing processes (sheet metal, stamping, injection molding, dispensing).

  • Exposure to PCBAs, connectors, or electronic components.

  • Familiarity with FEA, CFD, or simulation tools (ANSYS, MATLAB, Python, Simulink, StarCCM, etc.).

  • Experience with reliability testing, validation, or DFMEA methodologies.
