Athletic Equipment Manager


Location: Paradise Valley High School


11 months, 8 hours/day


Grade 12, $15.15/hour


Non-Interim Position


Dates: 04/06/2026 - 06/16/2026


 


Purpose Statement


The job of Athletic Equipment Manager is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for inventorying and maintaining athletic equipment; identifying equipment requirements of students; preparing playing fields and courts for home events; and assisting student athletes and coaches during practices and/or events.




 


This job reports to Athletic Director


 


Essential Functions


Assigns lockers to athletes for the purpose of ensuring available use.


 


Assists Athletic Director, coaches, and officials during athletic events for the purpose of responding to equipment needs.


 


Cleans sports equipment and vans for the purpose of maintaining items in proper condition.


 


Evaluates equipment requirements of student athletes (e.g. sizing, proper equipment, etc.) for the purpose of minimizing injuries to athletes.


 


Maintains uniforms and equipment (e.g. cleans, repairs, inventories, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring continued availability and proper use of items.


 


Maintains a variety of manual and electronic lists and/or records (e.g. inventory of supplies and equipment, locker assignments, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or providing reliable information.


 


Monitors setup of venue of athletic event for the purpose of ensuring safety and efficient support service during event.


 


Orders new athletic equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items.


 


Prepares materials for transport to off site athletic events for the purpose of ensuring availability for use.


 


Processes sports uniforms and equipment (e.g. issuing and reclaiming, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability for use.


 


Repairs uniforms and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability for use.


 


Responds to inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources for the purpose of providing information and/or direction as may be required.


 


Stencils all equipment, supplies and uniforms for the purpose of easily identifying school property.


 


Supervises student workers for the purpose of maximizing their efficiency and meeting work


requirements.


 


Travels with the sports teams as required for the purpose of assisting the coaches.



 



Other Functions


Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.


 


Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities


SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: preparing and maintaining accurate records; and using pertinent software applications.


 


KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: general knowledge of athletics-related equipment.


 


ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather and/or collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: working as part of a team; meeting deadlines and schedules; maintaining a good rapport with students, employees and community.


 


Responsibility


Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; utilization of resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to impact the organization’s services.


 


Work Environment


The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
