Sumner High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our coaching staff as an Assistant Football Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of football fundamentals, a commitment to athlete development, and the ability to foster a positive team environment. This seasonal position offers the opportunity to work closely with student-athletes and contribute to the overall success of the football program.
Salary placement is dependent upon education and experience.
In the event the season is not held, there will be no pay for this position. Position to be filled based on student participation numbers designated by the district. Stipends are prorated for an authorized start date 5 days after the season has begun. Stipend will be prorated for late start clearance.

Assistant Athletics Coach
Compensation & Representation:
The Assistant Athletics Coach is represented by the Extra Curricular Bargaining Group and compensated
according to the Extra Curricular Coaches Salary Schedule.
Essential Job Functions:
This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Some incumbents may not perform all the duties listed

Before the Season
● Assists head coach with proper registration of all athletes
● Assists head coach in making systematic issuance of school equipment
● Assists head coach in providing accurate information needed to compile eligibility lists and other reports
During the Season
● Assists head coach in carrying out his/her responsibilities
● Assumes responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities being used
● Assumes supervisory control over athletes and teams assigned to them
● Regularly attends practice sessions and contests
● Applies discipline in a firm and positive manner
● Emphasizes safety precautions and is aware of, and implements the best training and injury procedures
● Conducts themselves and their team in an ethical and appropriate manner during practice and contests
● Provides head coach with information needed in making game reports and publicity releases
● Instructs the players concerning rules and rule changes, new knowledge and innovative ideas and
techniques
● Manages Associated Student Body (ASB) and booster fundraiser accounts ethically and accurately
● Participates in staff and department meetings
● Works collaboratively within the professional learning community of the school and district
● Reports to work with regular and reliable attendance and punctuality
● Upholds board policy, district and building policies and goals
End of the Season
● Assists with the return in inventory of school equipment
Minimum Qualifications:
● Minimum age requirement in compliance with WIAA regulations
● Membership of a professional organization such as the Washington State Coaches Association
● Understanding and knowledge of the rules and regulations regarding the sport as presented in the WIAA

● Maintains all Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) and Sumner-Bonney Lake School
District Coaching standard requirements
● Maintains CPR/First Aid certification
● Keeps abreast of new knowledge and innovative ideas and techniques by attending clinics and reading
about the sport
● Keeps abreast of rules and rule changes of the sport

Working Conditions:
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
Reports issues regarding the safety and cleanliness of the worksite and requests necessary repairs due to
vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc.
Occasional exposure to weather. Moderate physical demand, occasionally required to lift and carry objects
weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds and push/pull with up to twenty-five (25) pounds of force. Must be able to
walk up to 500 feet at a time and climb stairs as needed.
The District operates on a fiscal year from September 1st through August 31st. Those employees who do not
work the full year are paid over a 12-month period. This means that during the school year the monthly pay
warrants will be approximately 1/12 of the school year earnings, which allows the employee to receive a pay
warrant during the summer months.
