About the Role

The Engineering Specialist plays a key role within our Engineering team, ensuring all maintenance and project work performed by outside contractors meets our high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This role provides technical expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, supports internal teams, and serves as Engineer on Duty as needed.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee and coordinate outside contractors for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other technical projects.

  • Inspect and verify the quality of contracted work, ensuring compliance with local codes, company standards, and project specifications.

  • Act as a subject matter expert in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, providing technical guidance to contractors and internal teams.

  • Maintain ongoing communication with management and contractors regarding project progress, issues, and resolutions.

  • Document contractor activities, inspections, and project milestones with accuracy and detail.

  • Ensure all contractor personnel follow site safety rules and operational protocols.

  • Fill in as Engineer on Duty (EOD) when needed, performing routine maintenance and responding to guest or operational service requests.

What You Bring

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering roles with strong expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.

  • Proven experience overseeing contractors in a commercial, hospitality, or similar environment.

  • Strong understanding of local building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Relevant certifications such as EPA Universal or journeyman license are considered an asset.

Schedule & Hours

  • This is a full‑time role.

  • As our hotel operates 24/7, 365 days a year, candidates must be flexible to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
