Senior Cloud Engineer

The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation, support, and optimisation of cloud technologies that enable productivity and collaboration across the business. This role works closely with infrastructure teams, profit center's, the service desk, and Level 2 Microsoft 365 support partners to ensure a stable and efficient cloud environment.
As a subject matter expert, the Senior Cloud Engineer will contribute to a wide range of initiatives aligned to the enterprise workplace and collaboration roadmap. The role provides technical guidance in planning, designing, and implementing new solutions while maintaining the stability and integrity of existing platforms.
The position operates under the direction of senior leadership and reports directly to the M365 Cloud Services Manager.
The day to day:
Troubleshoot Level 3 incident tickets via ServiceNow.
Manage aspects of Microsoft 365 products and Azure AD including Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, MFA, SSO, and related technologies.
Subject Matter Expert (SME) for administering and troubleshooting Exchange Online.
Analyse technical needs, document requirements, and assist in the design of technical solutions for Microsoft 365.
Provide monthly metrics for cloud operations.
Evaluate, test, and install critical updates on a regular basis.
Integrate solutions into existing infrastructure, consult on development projects, help deploy solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
Review current technologies, tools, and services and make recommendations for their use based on security/compliance, financial, and operational criteria.
Provide troubleshooting steps and operational documentation for support teams.
Contribute to providing audit proof of operations when needed.
Assist with cyber security investigations when needed.
About you:
Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact and communicate throughout the organisation with individuals of varying technical knowledge.
Strong working experience with Microsoft 365 including SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, conditional access, Multi-factor Authentication, and Azure Active Directory.
Experience with mergers & acquisitions with an emphasis on workplace and collaboration technologies.
Strong working experience implementing, troubleshooting, and migrating to Microsoft 365; primarily Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and Teams.
Experience with cloud-based services in Azure.
Ability to lead a project or task when instructed to design, implement, and deliver enterprise solutions.
Follow team procedures, identify gaps, and resolve effectively to continuously improve working practices.
Provide technical overview to team members when required; ensure operational standards are adhered to.
Always demonstrate and deliver excellent customer service to all clients.
Intermediate to advanced scripting skill such as PowerShell.
Required
Extensive experience with M365 cloud engineering and is considered a subject matter expert in Microsoft 365 messaging and including Teams.
A passion for customer service and excellent execution.
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Available for occasional travel up to 25%.
Preferred
Bachelor's or master's degree in information systems, computer science, business administration or related field
