Position Summary:
The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving a variety of nutritious meals and snacks for children in our full-day program, following planned menus and
maintaining a safe, well-run kitchen.
What you'll do:
- Prepare and serve fresh, nutritious meals and snacks daily for enrolled children
- Accommodate children with restricted diets with care and creativity
- Plan weekly menus in collaboration with our contracted nutritionist, meeting CCFP meal pattern requirements
- Purchase food and supplies and maintain accurate records for the Child Care Food Program
- Jump into the classroom to support teachers and interact with children when needed
- Maintains verification of food and non-food purchases to meet CCFP (Child Care Food Program) requirements.
- In collaboration with the Contracted Nutritionist, develops weekly menus to meet CCFP meal pattern requirements.
- Maintains a safe and sanitary kitchen, pantry and storage areas.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimally 2 years cooking experience , institutional, school or childcare settings with children under 3 years of age.
- A high school diploma or equivalent required
- Drivers License and reliable transportation (may serve multiple locations
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3-12 units in Early Childhood Development or enrolled in school.
- Food Handlers Permit
- Bilingual English/Spanish
