Pinchin is seeking a Senior Project Technologist to join our Building Science and Sustainability team in Kelowna. This new role reports to the Operations Manager.

Department Overview

Pinchin’s Building Science and Sustainability team delivers practical, science-based solutions that enhance building performance, durability, and resiliency. Our multidisciplinary experts collaborate on assessments, restoration, and design projects to help clients protect assets, manage risk, and extend the life of their buildings.

Your Role and Action:

  • Conduct investigations and assessments (PCA,BECA, RCA) to determine condition of various building element and write technical reports of findings, summarizing, collating and interpreting the results of field data along with making recommendations
  • Conduct invasive building inspections and testing (ex. Roof cut tests, exploratory openings in exterior/interior walls, water / leak tests, etc.)
  • Conduct quantity take offs, measurements and estimation
  • Develop designs and specifications for restoration projects
  • Carry out construction reviews to ensure quality standards and design requirements are achieved
  • Conduct PCAs and capital planning in accordance with the ASTM standards and best construction practices
  • Creating detailed AutoCAD drawings
  • Maintain health and safety protocols as well as quality control within the group

What You’ll Bring to Pinchin

  • College Diploma in Building Science, Architectural Technology / Science, Construction Technology or Civil Engineering Technology. Bachelor of Science or Applied Science is preferred. EIT is an asset.
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience as a Project Technologist in the Canadian Building Science industry having proficiency in conducting BECAs, RCAs, PCAs
  • Should be familiar with various building envelope assemblies and other building systems like HVAC, mechanical and electrical, plumbing and fire and life safety systems
  • Experience with PCAs in accordance with the ASTM - E 2018 – 15 Standard Guide will be considered an asset
  • Must be proficient in preparing technical specifications and drawings and writing technical reports
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to safely transport and carry 20-foot extension or folding ladder, hand tools and PPE is required
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance & personal vehicle required (work related travel expenses will be compensated) and availability to travel.
