Job Description

Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency consists of staff dedicated to serving others, which include professionalism, empathy, respect, excellent client service, maintaining confidentiality, punctuality with regular attendance. We provide assistance to low to moderate income families to help address their most critical needs.  The agency has over 70 programs, including valuable educational, housing, and emergency services.

Internship Description

  • Wayne Metro seeks a detail-oriented and organized individual with a passion for administrative operations and community-centered work. This internship provides hands-on experience in the day-to-day functions of a large, multi-site nonprofit organization, offering an excellent opportunity to develop skills in office administration, records management, communications, and project coordination. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively across departments to support administrative functions and contribute to the agency's mission.

 

Interns Essential Functions: 


Administrative Support (60%)

        Provide general administrative support to the Administration department, including scheduling, correspondence, and document preparation

•        Assist with filing, scanning, and maintaining accurate physical and electronic records in accordance with Wayne Metro records management procedures

•        Support data entry and records updates across agency systems

•        Respond to internal inquiries and route requests to appropriate departments or staff

•        Prepare agendas, meeting materials, and follow-up notes for departmental meetings

•        Assist with tracking and organizing program documentation, reports, and compliance materials

 

Project & Operations Coordination (40%)

       Assist with coordinating special projects assigned by the Administration department

•        Support the planning and logistics for internal meetings, training sessions, and agency events

•        Compile and organize data or information as requested for departmental reporting

•        Assist with developing internal communications, forms, and workflow documentation

•        Participate in cross-departmental collaboration as directed by the supervising manager

 

Qualified candidates:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field
  • Interest in community development, social services, or nonprofit administration
  •  Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  •  Strong written, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  •  Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  •  Previous office or administrative experience is a plus

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job operates in a professional office environment with a usually quiet noise level. This is largely a sedentary role and the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, frequently use hands and to talk or hear.
