Job Summary
Utilizes imaging equipment (x-ray) to conduct radiological diagnostic procedures as needed for evaluating patient conditions. Creates and maintains records and files as directed. Performs a variety of tasks associated with the application and removal of orthopedic casts and splints as directed by a physician.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate computer and radiographic equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body, under the supervision of Radiologist. Performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images on X-Ray and MRI.
- Prepares patient for radiographic procedures by accurately assessing patients needs and providing patient education.
- Records appropriate chart notations in Patient Information System and/or patient file. Prepares and maintains records and files as directed, stores and maintains films according to department policy and procedures.
- Prepares patients films for interpretation by radiologist.
- Practices safety measures in radiography and environment of care. Maintains and tests equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Assist Physicians with orthopedic casting procedures to include the application and removal of a variety of casts and splints. Prepare and position patient for casting procedures. Instruct patients in cast ware, wound care, swelling and how to remove and apply splints.
- Perform routine examinations and treatment procedures to include removing casts, cleaning wounds and applying medications and dressing.
- Perform MRI on open extremity and 1.5 Tesla(if MRI Tech ONLY. X-Ray techs will not perform MRI's).
- Maintains patient confidentially.
- Cross-train in other clinical areas to assist in rooming patients, scheduling appointments, and supporting physicians/providers.
- Attends CE course as requested. Attends OSHA training programs. Attends all regular staff meetings.
- Performs duties as requested by Supervisor.
