Job Description

Summary
Jefferson West High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our boys' basketball program as the Head Coach for the 2026-27 upcoming season. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the game, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes. This seasonal position will focus on developing players' skills, promoting teamwork, and instilling a love for the game.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training and competition plan for the boys' basketball program.
- Conduct daily practices, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Organize and oversee all aspects of the team, including game strategies, player evaluations, and performance assessments.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages player growth and development.
- Communicate regularly with players, parents, and school administration regarding team activities, schedules, and expectations.
- Collaborate with other coaches and school staff to ensure alignment with the school's athletic program and academic standards.
- Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes and support their overall well-being.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant league and school policies and regulations.
- Assist in the recruitment and retention of players for the program.
- Attend all games, practices, and relevant meetings, including pre-season and post-season evaluations.

Requirements
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level or above.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and techniques.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to reach their full potential.
- Commitment to promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive athletic experience.
- First Aid/CPR certification is preferred or must be obtained prior to the start of the season.
- Must pass a background check and comply with all school district policies.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends for practices and games during the season.
