JOB SUMMARY:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of the health care team under supervision of a physician.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct comprehensive, problem-focused health assessments including medical history, physical examination, and appropriate diagnostic testing.
- Order, perform, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies as clinically indicated.
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical findings and evidence-based guidelines.
- Consult and collaborate with supervising or collaborating physicians regarding abnormal findings, complex conditions, or cases outside scope of practice.
- Prescribe and administer medications, injections, and immunizations in accordance with state regulations and organizational protocols.
- Provide referrals to specialists or additional services as appropriate.
- Deliver patient and family education related to diagnosis, treatment, disease prevention, wellness, and lifestyle modification.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), including appropriate coding and billing support.
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards, quality metrics, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and interdisciplinary care coordination.
- Support a positive patient experience through professional communication, responsiveness, and compassionate care.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of healthcare delivery models, quality standards, infection control, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong clinical reasoning and diagnostic skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and standard business software.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Sound clinical judgment and professional decision-making.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and exercise discretion.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
- Professional demeanor and commitment to ethical practice.
- Flexibility to meet patient care and scheduling needs.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor�s degree required. Advanced Practice Provider (APP) who has completed the necessary education for certification and unrestricted licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner required. Preferred 2 years of clinical practice experience, in an urgent care setting.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- This role operates in a healthcare setting. This position requires frequent sitting and computer work and allows the employee to vary physical position or activity for comfort.
- Must be able to:
- Stand 60% or longer of an 8-hour workday.
- Walk 20% or longer of an 8-hour workday.
- Sit 20% of an 8-hour workday.
- Requires ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
- Requires employee to bend, squat, kneel, and reach above shoulder level occasionally and twist occasionally.
- Requires repetitive use of hands for simple grasping, fine manipulation, and computer use.
- Requires all sensory skills (speech, vision, smell, touch, and hearing) corrected to near normal range.
