Position Summary
The Security Coordinator is responsible for managing the facility’s guard shack and gate access point, serving as the first line of control for all individuals entering the property. This role ensures that all access is properly verified, documented, and compliant, while maintaining continuous awareness of facility activity through surveillance monitoring.
This position also supports the Compliance and Security Manager by overseeing day-to-day security operations, monitoring cameras across all licensed facilities, reporting system malfunctions, and coordinating security-related issues and personnel.
This role is operational and compliance-focused, combining access control, surveillance oversight, and security coordination in support of Missouri cannabis regulations, including 19 CSR 100-1.090 and 19 CSR 100-1.030.
Key Responsibilities
Gate Control & Guard Shack Operations (Primary Function)
- Staff and operate the guard shack at all times during scheduled hours
- Open and control the facility gate for all incoming and outgoing traffic
- Verify identification of all employees, vendors, and visitors prior to granting entry
- Ensure only authorized individuals are permitted on-site and into limited access areas
- Act as the primary control point for all site access
Employee Badge Management
- Issue employee badges at the start of each shift
- Collect and securely store badges at the end of each shift
- Maintain accountability and organization of all badges within the guard shack
- Ensure only properly badged individuals are permitted access beyond the gate
Visitor & Vendor Management
- Vet all vendors prior to entry, confirming authorization and business purpose
- Manage visitor check-in and check-out process, including:
- Maintaining accurate visitor logs
- Issuing and collecting visitor badges
- Ensure all visitors are documented and handled in accordance with access control procedures
- Support compliance with visitor escort and access requirements under 19 CSR 100-1.090(2)
Surveillance Monitoring (All Licenses)
- Monitor camera systems across all company locations
- Maintain continuous awareness of facility activity and identify irregularities
- Escalate suspicious activity, security concerns, or operational issues immediately
- Support compliance with surveillance and monitoring expectations under 19 CSR 100-1.090
Security Malfunctions & Reporting
- Identify and document all security system malfunctions (camera outages, system failures, etc.)
- Immediately report issues to the Compliance and Security Manager upon discovery
- Support required notification to the Department within 24 hours of discovery
- Assist in coordinating repairs and tracking resolution within 72 hours, where feasible
- Ensure alternative security measures are implemented during outages when necessary
Security Malfunction Log Oversight
- Maintain and update the facility’s security malfunction log in real time
- Ensure all entries are complete, including:
- Date, time, and nature of malfunction
- Actions taken and repair attempts
- Reason for delays
- Date resolved
- Alternative security measures taken
- All communications with the Department
- Ensure logs are maintained for a minimum of one (1) year and are inspection-ready at all times
- Support compliance with 19 CSR 100-1.090(5)
Security Guard Oversight
- Provide day-to-day oversight of contracted or in-house security guards
- Ensure guards are following post orders and remaining on post
- Act as the primary point of contact for guard-related issues during scheduled hours
- Escalate performance or compliance concerns to management
Security Tickets & Coordination
- Track and assist with resolution of security-related issues and service tickets
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors for repairs and maintenance
- Maintain visibility into open issues and ensure timely follow-up
Documentation & Inspection Readiness
- Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready records at all times
- Ensure visitor logs, badge tracking, and malfunction logs are complete and current
- Support readiness for unannounced inspections and regulatory reviews
- Ensure compliance with recordkeeping requirements under 19 CSR 100-1.030
Qualifications
- 2+ years experience in security, access control, or operations coordination
- Strong attention to detail and ability to enforce procedures consistently
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of a critical control point
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience in a regulated environment preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain seated or stationed in a guard shack for extended periods while maintaining alertness and attention to detail
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the facility as needed for inspections or coordination
- Ability to frequently use hands and fingers to operate computer systems, badge printers, radios, and surveillance equipment
- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, including over radio and phone systems
- Ability to visually monitor multiple computer screens and camera feeds for extended durations
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds (e.g., packages, equipment, log materials)
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions when accessing gate areas, including exposure to outdoor weather (heat, cold, rain)
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to security events or emergencies
