Position Summary:
Provide interactive and motivational orientation and vocational workshops to Youth PACE participants, fostering professional growth related to job preparation, sector-based overview and instruction, job search assistance, online applications and resume preparation. Develop and enhance clients’ work-related skills in preparation for job placement or other engagement activities in the HRA PACE model.
Essential Functions:
● Facilitate daily motivational orientations in-person and via ZOOM for newly referred Youth HRA PACE clients. Conduct workshops on self-assessment and introduces online tools that are used in a group setting. Assessment workshop topics include interest, skills, values, etc.
● Provide job readiness workshops for program participants on such topics as: resume preparation and writing, introduction to business sectors, online job applications and follow up, job search tools, using email, interviewing skills, workplace ethics, soft skills and business conduct, networking and financial literacy.
● Conduct workshops utilizing prepared curricula and appropriate training materials, integrating vocational concepts and employment activities in a classroom setting. Plan and implement workshop activities to reflect participants’ needs, job readiness and skills level. Assist in the development of job preparation curricula.
● Conduct interactive facilitation allowing for questions, comments and discussion from clients.
● Integrate relevant online computer sites and available tutorials to supplement and enhance classroom instruction.
● Maintain and execute documentation and workflow through computer-based programs and technology that draws on basic software/computer skill set.
● Identify immediately job ready clients and refer them to Internship and Engagement Coordinator(s).
● Maintain contact with Career Services Coordinator and Engagement specialist to track and update client progress.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred. Minimum requirements are a high school diploma or equivalent with three years of related work experience.
- Experience working with public assistance population.
- Experience working in employment services or in social service-related field.
- Excellent public speaking skills with the ability to motivate and engage clients.
Salary $54,000
Program Overview: NADAP’s Pathways for Access to Careers and Employment (PACE) program is a new career services initiative funded by NYC's Human Resources Administration working with adults and youth, ages 18+, receiving cash assistance. PACE is designed to improve employment and training outcomes and provides individualized career planning, skills development, credential attainment, employment preparation, job placement and retention services.
