Job Description

NANA Construction is seeking a dependable and safety-focused CDL Class A or B Driver for a temporary, project-specific assignment hauling gravel in Kotzebue, Alaska. This role is focused on supporting civil construction operations through safe and efficient material transport during the duration of the project.

 

The ideal candidate is experienced in hauling aggregate materials, comfortable working long hours in remote and challenging conditions, and committed to maintaining strict safety and DOT compliance standards.

 

*This is a seasonal position dedicated to a specific gravel hauling scope (Approx. June 21st- July 31st)*

  • Operate CDL Class A or B dump trucks and haul trucks for transporting gravel and aggregate materials.
  • Perform short-haul and site haul operations between pits, stockpiles, and active job sites.
  • Load, haul, dump, and spread material as directed by site supervision.
  • Coordinate with equipment operators for efficient production.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and perform minor maintenance checks.
  • Maintain accurate haul logs, load counts, and daily reports.
  • Ensure proper load securement and weight compliance.
  • Work safely around heavy equipment and active construction zones.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, and DOT regulations.
  • Work in extreme weather conditions and variable terrain typical of Arctic construction.
  • Report all incidents, equipment issues, or safety concerns immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project completion.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience hauling gravel or similar materials.
  • Valid Class A or B CDL.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.
  • Experience operating dump trucks or off-road haul units.
  • Strong understanding of jobsite safety and haul road conditions.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding work.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and production-driven schedules.
  • Ability to work in remote Alaska locations for the duration of the project.

Preferred

  • Experience working in remote or camp-based projects.
  • Arctic or cold-weather construction experience.
  • Spill response or environmental remediation experience.
  • Equipment operation experience (loader, excavator, skid steer, etc.).

The employee must regularly lift, move and /or carry up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. Steel toed boots required on the job.
