Safety is not just a requirement at Penn Color; it is a core value that guides how we operate every day. We foster a proactive safety culture built on accountability, partnership, and continuous improvement across our manufacturing environments.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Intern to join our manufacturing facility. This internship provides hands-on experience supporting workplace safety initiatives, regulatory compliance activities, and risk-reduction efforts in an active production setting.

Position Overview

The EHS Intern will support the Environmental Health & Safety team in advancing Penn Color’s strong safety culture by helping identify hazards, improve safety processes, and reinforce safe work practices across the facility. This role provides exposure to real-world safety challenges in manufacturing and offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful initiatives that protect employees and strengthen compliance with OSHA and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with facility safety audits, inspections, and hazard identification activities
  • Support incident investigations, near-miss reviews, and root cause analysis efforts
  • Help maintain OSHA logs, safety documentation, and compliance tracking systems
  • Assist in reviewing, updating, and organizing safety procedures and work instructions
  • Participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and task-based risk assessments
  • Support employee safety engagement initiatives and training program development
  • Help track and analyze safety performance metrics and leading indicators
  • Assist with chemical safety documentation and inventory tracking activities
  • Support environmental compliance efforts including waste handling and reporting processes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects focused on reducing risk and strengthening workplace safety practices

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong interest in industrial safety and manufacturing environments
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred

  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations or safety compliance principles
  • Prior internship, lab, construction, or manufacturing experience
  • Exposure to audits, inspections, or safety observations
  • Familiarity with safety management systems or incident tracking tools
