Behavioral Specialist II | Behavioral Health | Substance Use & Case Management

Location: Philadelphia, PA
Department: Miracles in Progress Program
Job Type: Full Time or Part Time
Schedule:
Part Time: 16 hours per week, Saturday and Sunday every other weekend
Full Time: 40 hours per week, No weekends
Hours: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Starting Pay: $27.01 per hour
Work Setting: Fully Onsite

Overview
The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard is a leading provider of inpatient and outpatient behavioral health and substance use treatment services in Philadelphia. Our mission is to deliver high quality, evidence-based care that empowers individuals on their path to recovery, stability, and long-term wellness.

The Miracles in Progress program is a specialized recovery program serving men who have experienced chronic homelessness and long-term substance use. This program provides structured, long-term treatment focused on substance use disorder recovery and co-occurring mental health support, helping participants achieve stability and maintain long term sobriety.

We are currently hiring for both Full Time and Part Time Behavioral Specialist II positions within our Miracles in Progress program.

The Behavioral Specialist II is responsible for providing direct support, case management, advocacy, and clinical services to individuals navigating recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration into the community. This role plays a critical part in managing complex cases and collaborating within a multidisciplinary treatment team.

Responsibilities
• Conduct client assessments, intake interviews, and initial evaluations
• Provide individual counseling, case management, and crisis intervention
• Facilitate group therapy and psychoeducation sessions
• Support clients with housing, vocational training, financial benefits, and legal coordination
• Accompany clients to medical, legal, and court related appointments as needed
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record
• Develop and maintain relationships with community providers and referral sources
• Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and case reviews
• Manage a complex caseload and provide ongoing support and follow up
• Provide guidance and consultation to Behavioral Specialists and support staff
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and behavioral health regulations

Qualifications

Education
• Master’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Education, Political Science, or a related field required

Experience
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in mental health, substance use treatment, or criminal justice settings
• Experience with case management, behavioral health interventions, or community based services preferred

Certifications and Licensure
• Professional licensure such as LPC, LSW, or similar credentials strongly preferred

Additional Requirements
• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred
• Knowledge of CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and trauma informed care
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with Electronic Health Records and documentation standards

Work Environment
This role is fully onsite in a behavioral health treatment setting. The position requires frequent client interaction, coordination with external agencies, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Staff may encounter high acuity situations and must be able to respond appropriately to behavioral health crises.
