Job description

The Project Systems Engineer will work on challenging technical projects as well as serve as an escalation point for Tier 1 and Tier 2 Engineers. The successful candidate will be highly technical and a natural troubleshooter and leader with great customer service instincts. This position will work remotely on the East Coast and may require occasional travel to client sites. 

  

We are seeking a project technician/engineer to join our Professional Services team. This role requires a strong IT background to understand and address technical challenges.  The ideal candidate will be adept at executing projects assigned in alignment with our processes and procedures (Compass Way).   

Job requirements

  • Possess a minimum of 10+ years of hands-on experience in an engineering role, equipped to tackle diverse challenges 
  • Preferred certifications such as A+, Network+, MCSE, Office 365, VCP, CCNA, and Azure are highly regarded 
  • Prior experience in a Managed Service Provider or Consulting environment is preferred 
  • Proficiency with systems like ConnectWise and IT Glue is advantageous for seamless operations

Job responsibilities

  • Proficiently manage multiple tasks of varying size and complexity across diverse client infrastructures 
  • Design and implement server setups, including hardware configuration, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage solutions 
  • Expertise in Server migrations: Print\FIle Servers, DHCP Server, DNS, NPS, Application Server w/vendors, Database w/vendors 
  • Configure virtualized environments using platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V to optimize system performance 
  • Expertise in Azure services: IaaS, AVD – Nerdio, Entra ID, Intune, Storage Services (Azure Files) 
  • Expertise in Azure Migrate Services, hybrid cloud management, infrastructure networking, resource management, Identity and access control, Frontdoor services, SSO Integrations 
  • Migration experiences in Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive and Intune 
  • Migration experiences in RDS to AVD environments or upgrading AVD environments, proficiency in FSLogix 
  • Expertise in configuring & deploying Microsoft infrastructures like Windows Server, Remote Desktop Server and SQL Server 
  • Expertise in M365: Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Co-Pilot 
  • Handle configuration tasks related to storage solutions within on-premises infrastructures such as NAS & SAN technologies 
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain third-party software solutions such as Datto, Shadow Protect, and Veaam 
  • Design, configure, and troubleshoot network infrastructures, with experience in WatchGuard Firewalls, Sonicwall firewalls, Cisco IOS firewalls, routers, and switches, HP/Aruba switching (Layer 2 & 3), Dell Switching (Layer 2 & 3) and Unifi switching and wireless 
  • Expertise & Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting firewall technologies, including site-to-site VPNs, security services, QoS, high availability, and routing. 
  • Train other Navigators on skills, tools, and procedures to keep the PS Team on the cutting edge of Professional Services  
  • Provide escalation assistance, coaching, and training to team members to enhance overall performance and skill development 
  • Flexible schedule availability to accommodate varying work hours, including after-hours support when required
