Requirements:
Clinical Oversight & Mentorship
- Case Consultations: Advise junior PTs and Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) on complex cases or plateauing patients.
- QA Chart Audits: Review clinical documentation (EVALs, daily notes, and discharge summaries) to ensure they meet medical necessity and insurance requirements.
- Evidence-Based Practice: Introduce new research-backed modalities or protocols to the clinical team to improve patient outcomes.
- Supervision: Manage the overall supervision of the current PT, OT and speech/swallow team.
- Clinical Care: Participate in patient care by providing PT or OT services to inpatients for 0.2 FTE (7.5 hours over the course of the week)
Personnel Management
- Scheduling & Coverage: Manage therapist schedules, PTO requests, and patient volume to ensure the clinic is appropriately staffed and arrange coverage when needed
- Performance Reviews: Conduct quarterly or annual appraisals, set productivity goals, and address performance issues or disciplinary actions.
- Hiring & Training: Participate in interviewing and onboarding new staff to ensure they fit the clinic's culture and technical standards.
- Conflict Resolution: Mediate disputes between staff members or address patient complaints regarding their care.
Administrative & Operations
- Productivity Monitoring: Track key metrics to ensure the service is productive.
- Compliance: Ensure the facility meets HIPAA, OSHA, and Joint Commission (TJC) standards. You also stay updated on Medicare/Medicaid billing changes.
- Budget & Equipment: Assist in monitoring expenditures, ordering supplies, and ensuring all specialized equipment (ultrasound, treadmills, etc.) is calibrated and safe.
- Interdisciplinary Liaison: Coordinate with physicians, case managers, and insurance adjusters to streamline referrals and authorizations.
Requirements:
- Education: * Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited program is preferred.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Physical Therapy for those licensed prior to the DPT requirement.
- Licensure: * Current, unencumbered New York State license and registration as a Physical Therapist.
- Experience: * Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in a relevant setting (Acute Care, Rehab, or Outpatient).
- At least 2 years of experience in a lead, senior, or supervisory capacity.
- Certifications: * Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Board Certification in a specialty (e.g., OCS, SCS, NCS, or GCS) is highly preferred for leadership roles.
- Regulatory Knowledge:
- Thorough understanding of the NYS Physical Therapy Practice Act.
- Familiarity with CMS, The Joint Commission, and NYS Department of Health (DOH) Article 28 regulations for rehabilitation services.
