Job Description

Part-Time (30 hrs/week) - 1 Year Contract 

We are seeking a compassionate and engaging Memory Visiting Companion to support older adults living with memory loss in the Milton (Halton Hills) Community. This role focuses on providing meaningful social interaction, companionship. cognitive engagement, and emotional support to clients in their homes and community settings. The Ideal candidate is patient, reliable, and passionate about enhancing quality of life for seniors while promoting dignity, independance, and connection. Experience working with dementia or seniors is considered an asset. 

Acclaim Health announces the availability of one (1) Temporary Established Part Time Memory Visiting Companion position (equivalent to 22.5 hours/week) for the Community Support Services department to work in the Milton and Halton Hills Community for a period of one (1) year . This position will require the individual to 3 shifts per week from 8:30am – 5:00pm with a one hour unpaid lunch.

Pay Range: $17.50 - $18.39 per hour

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide companionship and social engagement for older adults with memory impairment due to dementia or other health conditions through in-home visits
  • With the guidance of the Care Manager, identify activities of interest to individual clients
  • Engage clients in planned activities during visits that can include conversation, walks, looking at photographs, creating scrapbooks, simple puzzles, games etc.
  • Complete appropriate documentation in client file.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience working with older adults, including those with dementia
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License and insurance coverage in accordance with the company policy.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and willingness to travel within Halton Region
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
