Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY: In partnership with the Safety and Risk department here, the focus of the Safety Instructor - Classroom Facilitator is to facilitate the onboarding and preparedness of driver hires who have been cleared by all DOT (Department of Transportation) and company standards to become a qualified Stevens Transport CDL driver. This includes delivering training materials and familiarization with company policies and procedures intended to inform drivers of the necessary skills, safety and equipment knowledge, and company culture awareness to excel in their roles.  

 

Please note this position is on-site at Stevens Transport HQ in Dallas, Tx. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Educating drivers on various classroom topics related to industry best practices, , including safety regulations, defensive driving techniques, and proper vehicle maintenance 

  • Administer classroom programs including but not limited to Driver orientation, Grad class, Defensive driving technique programs, simulator, specialized equipment, and other dedicated special projects. Present recommendations on safety training curriculum and assist in the coaching and training of such modules. 

  • Leading group discussions, Q&A sessions, and team-building activities  

  • Collaborating with other trainers and management to continuously improve the training program 

  • Administering written exams to assess student knowledge, skill, and abilities 

  • Evaluating classroom agenda feedback for ways to improve our programming and to make the necessary adjustments for training quality  

  • Ensuring training and education is delivered within compliance with the regulatory requirements, company policy, industry best practices, and safety standards throughout the training process 

  • Provide guidance on safe driving practices, accident prevention, and emergency response protocols. 

  • Maintaining accurate records of training sessions, attendance, and individual performance to track progress and meet reporting obligations  

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Strong knowledge of commercial driving regulations and safety practices 

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills  

  • Ability to effectively educate and train adult learners 

  • Patient and supportive demeanor when working with students 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Ability to adapt training methodologies to suit diverse learning styles  

  • Proficiency in various training tools, multimedia, and learning management systems  

  • Certifications or qualifications in training, education, or a related field   

  • Ability to obtain CSS, CSP safety certification 

  • Transportation safety training certification a plus.

Work Experience:  

  • 1+ years over the road driving, or 1 year experience teaching curriculum materials in a classroom setting, or: 

  • 1+ years of experience working in transportation, motor carrier experience, and/or experience with Motor carrier safety programs 

 

Education:  

  • High school diploma 

  • Class A CDL
