Position: Library Media Assistant


 


Reports to: Principal and Media Specialist


 


Supervises: None


 


Qualifications:       



  1. High School diploma or GED required.

  2. Satisfy Every Student Succeeds Act requirements by


    • Completed at least 2 years of study (48 hrs.) at an institution of higher ed, or

    • Hold an associate’s degree or higher, or

    • Obtained a National Career Readiness Certificate through successful completion of the ACT, WorkKeys Assessment, or passed the Paraprofessional Assessment Test - Passing Score is 455, or

    • Passed the Oklahoma General Education (OGET) Test. 


  3. Minimum typing speed of 45 words per minute.

  4. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.

  5. Previous training and/or skills in computer literacy are preferred.

  6. Demonstrate ability of effective use of oral and written communication.

  7. Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.

  8. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.


Position Goal:  To assist in maintaining a well organized library environment in which teachers and students may use available learning resources.


 


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:



  1. Assists individual students, teachers and parents in locating and using resources.

  2. Types and processes orders and other resources.

  3. Assists with circulation of resources.

  4. Oversees the general neatness and attractiveness of the library and its displays.

  5. Assists the librarian in maintaining proper student discipline.

  6. Assists with supervision of classes using the media center.

  7. Assists with other clerical responsibilities such as answering the telephone and word processing.

  8. Perform all other duties as assigned.


Employment Terms:  Nine (9) month classified hourly contract

Physical Demands:

Visual Requirements:  Close, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.


 


Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.
