    SNS Specialist
     
    Position Summary:  
    This position provides support to the SNS Department.  Some key responsibilities will include maintaining, tracking and processing meal eligibility applications, meal accounting systems and reporting, student data information and Student Nutrition Program Compliance documents.   In addition, will ensure that such information is in compliance with OKCPS board policies and collective bargaining units, as well as federal and states laws/statutes.  


    **This position has been classified as Safety Sensitive in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act and/or the Department of Transportation (DOT), and Board Policy G-37-R3 Medical Marijuana & Safety Sensitive Positions Regulation. All candidates selected for hire or transferred into a Safety Sensitive position must undergo and pass a pre-employment drug screen before being hired or transferred. Employees holding safety-sensitive positions may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment, if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.** 
     
    Essential Duties:
    • Assists and supports the Director in the overall management and operations of the district’s School Nutrition Services (SNS) Department.
    • Serves as a resource for expertise in the processes of USDA and Oklahoma State requirements of meal application eligibilities.
    • Serves as a community resource in the area of school meal application education to parents, students, staff and other local organizational groups.
    • Attends district, state, and national meetings, as needed.
    • Ensures district compliance with all local, state and federal guidelines, rules and regulations applicable to the SNS Department.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
     
      SNS Administrative
    • Trains School Nutrition staff on correct point of sale transactions and procedures.
    • Assists in identifying and gathering all required documentation to district, state and federal agencies and Student Nutrition on a timely basis.
    • Processes and monitors work order requests.
    • Organizes and maintains office supplies.
    • Coordinates, initiates and inputs employee data into hiring and separation processes of SNS personnel.
    • Submits, updates and maintains SNS manpower information. 
    • Implements efficient management techniques to ensure all records and supporting documentation are maintained in accordance with local, state and federal regulations and laws and policies.
    • Receives telephone calls and visitors, responds to emails, and assists in the provision of district information. 
    • Processes department incoming and outgoing mail.
    • Processes and maintains Travel requests for signature and approval.
    • Collaborates and may assist other departments or team members during their peak times.
     
      SNS Applications
    • Supplies all required documentation to district, state and federal agencies and Child Nutrition on a timely basis.    
    • Creates all state and federal reports relating to meal accounting transactions.
    • Liaises with the district and state and federal departments to ensure compliance of all necessary documentation and requests.
    • Resolves any transaction errors.
    • Interfaces with Point-of-Sale (POS) software company to startup, upgrade and create needed reports as directed by the SNS Director and state agencies.
     
      SNS Purchasing
    • Generates all required documentation to district, state and federal agencies and Child Nutrition on a timely basis.
    • Coordinates with Finance Department personnel for food and supply requisitions.
    • Creates all purchase requisitions for the SNS department.
    • Receives and processes invoices and updates Goods Receipts for payment.
    • Closes all unused purchase orders on a timely basis.
     
      SNS Food Services
    • Generates all required documentation to district, state and federal agencies and Child Nutrition on a timely basis.
    • Assists in implementing a cost-effective procurement system which includes developing bidding and purchasing guidelines to ensure purchased food and supplies reflect product knowledge, student preferences, department needs, policies and nutritional and financial objectives.
    • Coordinates the delivery, storage and care of food products, supplies and equipment maintained in the district’s warehouse.
    • Monitors and orders commodity products and assures their safe storage, proper and timely usage, and inventory.
    • Assists and contributes to the development of the district’s annual commodity forecast, food and supply bids.
    • Coordinates with menu planner on available food for menus, new food needed and for any menu changes.  
    • Assists menu planner in estimating budget to purchase supplies.
    • Performs site visits, ensures USDA compliances.
    • Reviews yearly bids of Request for Proposals
    • Acts as liaison to coordinate with vendors on product issues and deliveries.

    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required):
    • ? High School Diploma required.
      ? A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in K12 food service operations.
      ? ServSafe Certificate
      ? Minimum of 5 years of relevant training experience in K12.
      ? Bachelor's degree preferred.
      ? Knowledge and experience with software applications (Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, or
      comparable application). Knowledge of K12 software and recipe building.
      ? Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
      ? Ability to research, analyze, summarize and present accurate information to customers,
      employees, and the general public.
      ? Ability to write reports and to maintain records accurately.
      ? Ability to give direction and guidance to other staff as needed.
      ? Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with OKCPS staff and
      vendors.
