Job Purpose:
The Bartender is both a master of craft and a warm host, creating an engaging environment where guests gather, unwind, and connect. This role blends technical skill, speed, and product knowledge with an intuitive understanding of service and atmosphere. Whether crafting a classic cocktail, recommending a local spirit, or sparking a great conversation, the Bartender delivers a personalized experience that captures the heart of our hospitality. At Main Street Hospitality, this role is equal parts mixologist, storyteller, and ambassador of the bar.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Greet and engage guests in a friendly and approachable manner, creating a welcoming and energetic bar atmosphere.
- Prepare and serve a full range of cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages with speed, consistency, and attention to presentation.
- Offer knowledgeable recommendations and guidance on drink selections, including seasonal specials, local products, and pairings.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar throughout the shift, including glassware, garnishes, spirits, mixers, and bar tools.
- Monitor and limit alcohol consumption where necessary, following responsible service standards and intervening appropriately.
- Handle POS transactions with accuracy, reconcile end-of-shift reports, and maintain accountability for cash and inventory.
- Support food service at the bar as needed, ensuring timely delivery and clearing of guest items.
- Collaborate with barbacks, servers, and kitchen team members to create smooth service flow and guest satisfaction.
- Perform any and all other duties as requested by management in support of bar and restaurant operations.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior bartending experience in a full-service restaurant or bar required.
- Minimum 2 years bartending experience in a high-volume or upscale setting preferred.
- Must be 21+ and hold required alcohol service certifications (e.g., TIPS).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work at a productive pace without sacrificing quality.
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs occasionally.
- Must be able to perform repetitive tasks and heavy trays and items when needed.
