Role Summary
Vincennes University Business and Industry seeks an Adjunct Instructor to deliver non-credit apprenticeship training for General Motors (GM) Powertrain employees at the Bedford, Indiana facility. The Adjunct Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction using university-provided curriculum, supporting curriculum development as needed, and ensuring student progress toward defined course outcomes.
Responsibilities
Deliver non-credit apprenticeship training in accordance with Vincennes University-approved curriculum
Utilize instructional materials and curriculum supplied by Vincennes University
Assist with curriculum development and provide written feedback for continuous program improvement, as requested
Facilitate instruction aligned with workforce development and apprenticeship standards
Maintain accurate attendance records using university-provided sign-in sheets for each learning module
Submit a complete course roster via email to the Director of Apprenticeships no later than the end of the second day of class
Ensure each student completes a Vincennes University enrollment form by the second day of class (submitted by GM)
Assess student performance on a pass/fail basis
Submit end-of-course assessments and final grades to the Director of Apprenticeships no later than the Monday following the final day of instruction
Provide weekly written summary reports documenting student progress toward course outcomes
Submit all reports to the Director of Apprenticeships and the Assistant Vice President for Outreach and Engagement
Maintain professional communication and coordination with Vincennes University administrative staff and GM personnel
Participate in recruitment and retention activities
Participate in program assessment
Perform other duties as assigned
Your Qualifications
Essential
Subject matter expertise in skilled trades or related technical fields
Experience delivering instruction or training to adult learners or apprentices
Strong organizational, communication, and reporting skills
Prior experience in apprenticeship, workforce development, or industry-based training
Familiarity with manufacturing or industrial environments
Ability to foster a positive learning environment for students
Commitment and desire to go above and beyond to serve our diverse community
