The City of Coon Rapids is seeking applicants for seasonal Golf Maintenance Worker positions at Bunker Hills Golf Course. Under the direction of the Greens Superintendent, the seasonal Golf Maintenance Worker is responsible for assisting with golf course fairways and greens maintenance. Applicants must be 16 years of age or older. Previous experience in maintenance and familiarity with game of golf preferred. Must be available to work normally scheduled hours, including weekends and evenings. Position will work between 30-40 hours per week and will be scheduled to work 3 or more shifts per week.
Anticipated Hiring Rate: $12.00/hour

Position Duties

- Assists with mowing and trimming golf course grounds.
- Assists with changing golf cups.
- Assists with tee marker movement.
- Picks up and removes garbage from golf course grounds.
- Assists with sand trap maintenance.
- Assists with filling water coolers, as required.
- Communicates with golf course employees effectively via two-way radio.
- Regular and reliable attendance during scheduled work hours and outside regular hours as necessary.
- Provides effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and citizen customers.
- Maintains positive professional working relationships with all staff levels, other jurisdictions and outside agencies, and the general public.
- Follows oral and written instructions such as supervisor's work orders and equipment operation manuals.
- Regular and reliable attendance during scheduled work hours and outside regular hours as necessary.
- Performs essential position duties and responsibilities under the working conditions and physical demands described herein.
- Performs other related functions as apparent or delegated.
Minimum Qualifications
- Thorough practical knowledge of the game of golf.
- Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment used in developing and maintaining greens on a golf course.
- Ability to use riding and push mowers effectively.
- Ability to use weed trimming tools effectively.
- Ability to effectively communicate using the use two-way radio.
- Ability to work cooperatively with City personnel, external vendors, and the public.
- Ability to perform duties with tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
- Ability to be detail-oriented and follow through with tasks.
- Ability to maintain a team and service-oriented approach to work.
- Must have the ability to accept constructive criticism or discipline in a positive manner, initiating self-development to improve job performance.
- Must strive to promote a cooperative atmosphere in the department and exhibit a positive attitude.
Other Qualifications
- Thorough understanding of the game of golf.
- Familiarity with lawn mowing and trimming equipment.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or keyboards; speak intelligibly, hear and read.
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must frequently move, turn, lift and carry objects weighing up to 90 pounds. Examples of lifting and carrying requirements include but are not limited to 10-gallon water jugs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, color vision, distance vision and depth perception.
- Must be able to operate assigned equipment.
- Must comply with organizational and departmental policies.
- Must contribute to a productive, inclusive, and respectful work environment.
