    Behavior Specialist

    Position Purpose 

    The Behavior Specialist supports teachers and school leaders in implementing effective behavior systems and interventions. This role focuses on coaching staff, developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), supporting MTSS implementation, and using data to improve student behavior and classroom environments. The position emphasizes building staff capacity rather than direct student caseload management.

     Key Responsibilities

    • Coach general and special education teachers on classroom management and behavior strategies
    • Model effective practices and provide feedback through observation and follow-up
    • Lead development and monitoring of BIPs and support FBAs
    • Support Tier II and Tier III interventions within MTSS frameworks
    • Collaborate with principals to analyze discipline data and develop action plans
    • Assist with complex behavior cases and problem-solving teams (MTSS, IEP, etc.)
    • Support staff in collecting and using behavioral data to inform decisions
    • Provide professional development on behavior management, de-escalation, and evidence-based practices
    • Ensure consistency of behavior systems across classrooms and teams
    • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with FERPA and special education laws

     

    Skills & Competencies

    • Strong understanding of behavior intervention and instructional practices
    • Ability to coach adults and build teacher capacity
    • Data analysis and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to lead and support school-wide systems

     

    Additional Duties 

    • Performs other related tasks as assigned by central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

    Travel Requirements 

    • Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. 

     

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education
    • Valid Oklahoma teaching certification (Special Education preferred)
    • Minimum of 3 years experience in education with behavior intervention support
    • Knowledge of MTSS, behavior strategies, and classroom management
    • Strong coaching, communication, and leadership skills

      


    Paid on Noble Certified Scale with an additional 5% for Special Education
