The Purpose of Your Role

The IT Systems Engineer is a hands-on technical role responsible for supporting and improving a modern Microsoft-based infrastructure. This role focuses on day-to-day operations, troubleshooting, and contributing to projects that enhance system reliability, security and performance. This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in systems administration who is looking to grow their skills in cloud technologies, automation and modern IT practices. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment that is goal-oriented and emphasizes accountability for delivering results.

Success Indicators/KPIs

  • SLA Adherence > 90% of SLA

  • On-call response is 100% within SLA

  • CSAT > 90% positive

  • IT Knowledge sharing � at least 1 session/month

  • Daily/Weekly reporting will be captured automatically through service management platform

    • Monthly reporting

      • Projects/milestones accomplished

      • Ways you�ve standardized, consolidated, modernized

      • Risks/Recommendations

        • Capacity concerns

        • Security gaps

        • Technical debt

Upon achieving these key performance indicators, your supervisor will meet with you to review progress and collaborate on establishing new performance goals that reflect continued growth and excellence.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft-based infrastructure, including Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Azure

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term resolution

  • Understanding of IT service management best practices and concepts (incident, problem, asset, and change management)

  • Strong documentation practices, including system design, processes, and procedures

Core Responsibilities

  • Technical skills and understanding of Windows based environments (cloud and on-prem), Entra ID and Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint); designing, implementing, and testing hardware and software across a distributed, multi-site environment

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a consultative manner with others, i.e. establish rapport, interview/fact-find, define requirements, present options/recommend solutions, follow-up, and customer-focused behavior.

  • Proven ability to work in a dynamic team environment with changing requirements and competing priorities

  • Participation in projects and partner with stakeholders to ensure successful delivery

  • Provide support and procure/ship equipment to various locations and remote users

  • Serve as a technical escalation point, including analyzing root cause

  • Create or update topology, process, and procedure documentation

  • Participate in an on-call rotation for escalated issues

  • Demonstrates professional maturity through giving and receiving constructive feedback

  • Provide guidance and knowledge sharing to other team members as needed

  • Contribute to the evolution and modernization of the IT environment

  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures

The Skills and Expertise You Have

  • Bachelor�s Degree with Technical Competencies and 3 years of industry experience OR 5 years of industry experience

  • Working knowledge with Windows servers and Microsoft services (Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint), including fine-tuning and elimination of single points of failure.

  • Experience managing and troubleshooting AD, DNS, DHCP

  • Experience planning and executing hardware upgrades across a distributed, multi-site environment

  • Experience leveraging service management best practices in service improvement, asset management lifecycle, and change management

  • Experience evaluating, testing and implementing new technologies

  • Strong troubleshooting skills

  • Broad understanding of multiple technology areas (Windows, Entra ID, AD, GPO, Networking, etc.)

  • Understanding and basic experience with scripting, including PowerShell

  • Experience following change control processes

  • Must be punctual and maintain excellent attendance

  • Organized, detail-oriented, takes the initiative, and completes job responsibilities independently

  • Multitask, problem-solve, interpersonal skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Thrives in a changing work environment, including inside, outside, and loud noise level

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in multi-site or distributed locations

  • FreshService experience

  • Meraki networking experience

  • Relevant Microsoft certifications (or progress towards them)
