    EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

    FULL-TIME K-8 MUSIC TEACHER (Shared-Time Program) 
    2026-2027 School Year
     

    SUMMARY OF POSITION:   A caring, certified elementary school teacher, with knowledge of, and experience in, teaching music, using the holistic approach to learning.  The teacher shall understand and be able to apply principles of cooperative learning and have an understanding of the Michigan Standards of Quality.

    REPORTS TO: Shared Time School Principal/Director of Shared Services

    COMPENSATION: As per Carrollton Public Schools Shared Time School salary schedule and/or individual school salary schedule 

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    1. Ability to work cooperatively with teachers, students, and administration.
    2. Ability to develop and implement a strong curriculum for kindergarten school aged children using the state mandated standards.
    3. Shall have a strong understanding of child development and know how to adapt lessons to meet individual student instructional needs.
    4. Ability to keep all student and parent information confidential.
    5. Ability to keep a positive attitude in working with students, parents, other staff members, and community members who visit the schools' facilities or programs.
    6. Ability and willingness to lead activity programs for children.
    7. Must be able to lift and assist students when necessary.
    8. Must be self-directed and self-motivated
    9. Must be highly organized and able to multi-task.
    10. High level of proficiency in Google Docs, Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint preferred.
    11. Must be proficient in using the Internet for research.
    12. Shall be of good character with high moral and ethical values.
    13. To ensure a safe environment for students at all times.
    14. To meet and greet visitors in a positive, helpful manner.
    15. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job expectation.
    16. Ability to follow through on commitments.
    17. Must be able to work cooperatively with others.
    18. Must act in a professional manner.
    19. Other duties as assigned by the building principal/coordinator.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Must have an in depth understanding of elementary school students
    2. Must be certified by the State of Michigan as an elementary teacher with music endorsement
    3. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
    4. Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills.
    5. Must be able to work as part of a team.
    6. Must have experience working with at risk students and their parents.
    7. Must satisfactory pass:
      1. Law enforcement background check with fingerprinting at own expense and personal  and professional reference background check
      2. Must receive a satisfactory response to 4205-F Authorization for Release of Information and Employee History Check under 1996 PA 189 of 1996; MCL 380.1230b.
