Akerman is seeking a full-time Immigration Coordinator for our Labor & Employment/Immigration Practice Group, based in our Miami office. The Immigration Coordinator will work in a fast-paced team environment responding to a high volume of client inquiries as well as monitor the status of cases. This is a full-time role that requires you to work onsite Monday through Friday, with the ability and willingness to work extended hours when necessary to meet client and firm deadlines. Below is a list of some of the responsibilities for the position:
- Involved in handling large volume projects.
- Compile documents and information on clients/nurses for USCIS.
- Order checks for filing fees needed on Chrome River for each client.
- Scan documents to I-Manage.
- Create letters for clients and Immigration services in order to make process run smoothly.
- Prepare all cases for signing for attorney.
- E-mail clients for documents and make calls to clients to create an ongoing relationship for correspondence.
- Work directly with attorney and team to make sure team work is not in need of any emergencies.
- Send out Questionnaires through E-IMMIGRATION and collect data on each client.
- Do searches on USCIS site for multiple documents.
- Engage in Zoom calls when needed with nurses and attorney.
- Make sure dates and addresses are correct on E-Immigration.
- Prepare Fed-Ex labels and cover sheets for O/S to expedite case faster.
- Assists Paralegals on every level as needed.
The Coordinator will maintain client contact information; update and manage status reports; upload documents into immigration case management system; and assist with projects as assigned. The Coordinator must learn procedural and processing requirements for non-immigrant and immigrant visa petitions and applications. Customer service and marketing skills are a plus. A High School Diploma is required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Prior immigration experience and/or law firm experience is desired. Candidates must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently, have excellent service orientation skills and strong attention to detail. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus for this position.
