Job Summary
- Performs patient registration and lab test order entry for both outpatient and outreach patient specimens.
- Provides clerical and receptionist support.
- Acts as a resource for Laboratory information.
- Trains Outreach Registrar Clerks and Lab Assistants.
- Provides Patient Order/Registration Audit Support.
- Obtains routine and special collection blood specimens following established procedures, established time frames, and safety requirements.
- Labels, receives, and distributes specimens in the laboratory.
- Ensures quality control, maintenance, and performance improvement indicators are documented
Qualifications
Education
- High school education or equivalent GED.
- Requires some knowledge of medical terminology.
Experience
- Minimum of one year clerical experience required in a medical/patient care setting.
- One year of phlebotomy experience or 1 year of experience in a medical field providing patient care (such as a nursing assistant, medical assistant, nurse technician, etc.) which included drawing blood.
- Experience in supply inventory control preferred.
- Experience with hospital patient billing, physician office billing or lab billing preferred.
- Computer data entry experience preferred.
- Experience with word processing and spreadsheet software preferred.
- Clinical lab experience preferred.
- Patient registration experience preferred.
(Above requirements can be met by equivalent combination of education and experience)
Compensation/Benefits
- $16.07-$26.25/hr depending on previous work experience.
