Job Description

LRE (Leeward Renewable Energy) is forging an American energy future with integrity, innovation, and positive impact. Born in Texas in 2003, we own and operate over 30 utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects in local communities across the United States, totaling 4 gigawatts (GW) of generating capacity.

Job Summary:

The Data Platform Architect is responsible for designing the enterprise data ecosystem across lakehouse, warehouse, integration, and Master Data Management (MDM) platforms. This role defines standards, ensures scalability and security, and aligns data architecture with the organization’s strategic roadmap. The role will report directly to the Director of Data Analytics in the Operations department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design scalable, secure, high-performing data architectures across cloud and hybrid environments
  • Define standards for data modeling, ingestion, transformation, storage, and access
  • Establish architectural patterns for batch, streaming, and API-based integration
  • Develop long-term roadmap for lakehouse, warehouse, and semantic layers
  • Architect MDM domains (Customer, Asset, Financial, etc.)
  • Define integration patterns between MDM, source systems, and downstream analytics platforms
  • Establish golden record architecture and survivorship frameworks
  • Ensure metadata, lineage, and catalog capabilities are embedded in platform design
  • Align architecture with governance policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with Governance and Engineering teams to operationalize standards

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 5+ years in data architecture or senior data engineering roles
  • Strong experience with lakehouse/warehouse platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, AWS, etc.)
  • Experience designing MDM solutions
  • Deep understanding of enterprise integration patterns
  • Strong systems-thinking and roadmap planning skills

Preferred:

  • Experience designing lakehouse architectures using platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or Microsoft Fabric
  • Experience supporting enterprise analytics platforms, including semantic models and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker)
  • Experience collaborating with data governance councils, data stewards, and domain owners to operationalize data standards
