Speech Pathologist:

Qualifications
•Valid Speech/Language Pathology License
•Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
• Department of Education Educational Specialist Certificate #293(optional)

Position Description
• Speech Pathologist-focus of caseload to be determined

Responsibilities
•Guide staff in observing, describing, and referring suspected & identified students with speech and language and hearing disorders
•Serve as a resource to staff members
•Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech and language disorders
•Develop and implement appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet needs of children with identified speech, language and hearing disabilities
•Provide therapy within the classroom setting or in a pullout model as appropriate
•Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy suggestions for individual students’ daily activities
•Provide information and support to parents and families when appropriate
•Provide in service education and serve as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech, language and hearing as needed
•Maintain thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving therapy or other school-provided speech/language services
•Assist in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate
•Provide screening to identify speech/language disabled students at regular intervals including kindergarten screening
