The purpose of this role is to oversee and manage and help set up Synpulse’s new Centre of Excellence’s Reinsurance Accounting Team which we are building to support a UK based specialist (Re) Insurance client company. The role is required to provide comprehensive review, analysis, reporting and control to support the client’s business in all reinsurance aspects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for all aspects of outwards reinsurance processes within the client company
- Management of 2-3 Reinsurance Accounting Analysts with the possibility for future team expansion.
- Drive team growth through development, coaching and mentoring of team members.
- Responsibility for the accuracy and timeliness of reinsurance transaction processing including but not limited to:
- Support of the monthly close process
- Quota Share statement creation
- Contract Capture
- Premium adjustments
- Responsibility for the accuracy and timeliness of quota share treaty and facultative reinsurance premium processing and controls
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders in other areas.
- Coordination with the client’s claims department on all aspects of claims recoveries
- Provide FP&A support on Reinsurance topics
- Broker/Reinsurer reporting including statements/bordereau
- Work closely with financial controls unit, internal and external audit on reinsurance including responsibility for relevant controls and governance processes
- Improve and review the quality, accuracy and timeliness of the controls in place to support close processes.
- Drive improvements in efficiency and control leading to increased accuracy more timely processing
Qualifications and Experience
- Finance or Economics degree (progress towards an audit professional qualification is considered a plus)
- 5+ years of relevant experience in an insurance/reinsurance company
- Experience in ceded reinsurance is desired but not essential
- English language proficiency (C1 or above)
- Experience supervising and developing others
Candidate Requirements
- A strong working knowledge of reinsurance including underwriting, claims, accounting, finance and associated processes, controls and systems (relevant experience in a Reinsurer/Broker would be a plus)
- Ability to work flexibly to complete duties of the role, particularly during peak periods
- Working knowledge of relevant trends and information within the insurance industry
- Technical and/or analytic expertise that can be adapted to current technologies
- Proven ability to prioritise and organise effectively and work with speed and accuracy, as part of a cross-functional team
- Experience supporting work allocation and working to SLAs / deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, partners and internal teams
- Provide training and mentoring to team-members to support learning and development
- Process transformation and control improvement experience is a definite plus

Salary starts at 2600 EUR and may vary based on your seniority level, skills, and experience.
