Compensation: Starting at $15.50/hour (DOE)

Position Overview
Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.
AMS is seeking a dedicated and student-centered SPED Paraprofessional / Teacher’s Assistant to support classroom instruction and provide targeted assistance to students, including those with special needs, at our Little Rock campus.
In this role, you will work alongside teachers to support student learning, assist with classroom activities, and help maintain a structured and engaging learning environment. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all students receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially.
The ideal candidate is collaborative, adaptable, and passionate about working with students in a school environment.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support & Instruction
- Work alongside the lead teacher to support daily classroom instruction
- Provide small group and one-on-one support to students
- Assist with implementing lesson plans and classroom activities
- Support student engagement and reinforce learning concepts
Student Support (SPED Focus)
- Assist students with special needs in alignment with IEP goals
- Provide individualized support to help students access the curriculum
- Support behavior management strategies and promote a positive classroom environment
Classroom Environment & Operations
- Help maintain a structured, organized, and safe classroom environment
- Support classroom management and student supervision
- Occasionally assist with classroom coverage when needed
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent and passing score on the paraprofessional exam, OR
- Associate’s degree or higher
- Experience working with children
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Experience supporting students with special needs
