Job Description

COLSA Corporation is currently seeking a Senior Buyer that will be responsible for purchasing a variety of highly complex or unusual, technical or high dollar value materials, supplies and/or services.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential functions)

  • Responsible for purchasing a variety of highly complex or unusual, technical or high dollar value materials, supplies and/or services. *
  • Evaluates bids, selects and recommends suppliers, and negotiates pricing, delivery, quality and service *
  • Follows up on awards until completion of order *
  • Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, etc. *
  • Places orders for supplies, etc. with approved suppliers *
  • Coordinates with accounts payable or accounting department as needed to resolve questions on supplier’s invoices
  • Conducts visits to supplier sites to rate for production capability, performance and delivery capabilities
  • Provide work leadership for lower level employees
  • Monitor and reallocate workloads for lower level employees

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of purchasing experience
  • Working knowledge of desktop applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and database programs
  • U.S. Citizenship required; Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation prior to start date

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of FAR based contracts and purchasing requirements
  • Working knowledge of Contractor Purchasing System Review (CPSR) requirements
  • Deltek Costpoint experience
