Job Description

The Maintenance Technician Analyst provides experienced professional knowledge to procure, install and utilize web-based building management control systems and applications. The Maintenance Technician Analyst properly manages HVAC electrical controls and air distribution systems using fundamental industry principles to achieve consistent level of comfort and equipment efficiency in K-12 educational and support facilities. Further, this position will provide the technical expertise to maintain all division owned HVAC control systems including computers, hardware and software, currently in place and will work with the HVAC Department Head to repair/replace components as needed and upgrade older systems when necessary.


 


Essential Job Functions:



  •  Analyzes objectives and specifications for new control systems and upgrading of existing systems.

  • Analyzes and evaluates Maintenance Department items such as system selection, software selection, integration with existing automation control systems, available in-house resources and system implementation and training of maintenance personnel.

  • Conceptualizes, plans, designs, and implements new web based building automation controls packages to replace obsolete, inefficient and less reliable systems.

  • Performs technical administrative functions, including but not limited to, backing up and storing controller databases and creating and maintaining the web based HVAC control systems connectivity with the school division WAN/LAN infrastructure.

  • Develops controller application and databases for facility specific control systems to improve equipment operation and efficiency.

  • Converts of existing building automation control systems to accommodate new HVAC equipment.

  • Provides training to maintenance department employees to utilize the DDC building automation controls as needed.

  • Enables the various individual control systems to be monitored from multiple computers connected to the school divisions WAN/LAN and create remote monitoring through a VPN.

  • Uses building automation controls system to monitor all 37 schools and support buildings throughout the county to identify equipment malfunction and provide assistance to maintenance technicians with troubleshooting and repair or replacement of equipment.

  • Monitors critical system alarms and alert designated employees of these alarm conditions and equipment status

  • Provides an Annual Progress Report of the existing Control Systems to help facilitate Capital Project Planning.

Education and Experience:


 


Required



  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Current (valid, non-expired) Driver’s License 

  • Five (5) years of experience working in building control systems, ideally with maintenance related software and systems within a public school system or other Educational setting.


Preferred



  • Successful completion of a Niagara 4 - Technical Certification Program (TCP) or other BAS control systems regardless of manufacturer

Employment Terms: Employment is offered as an 12-month (243 Day) contract, at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked daily. This position is evaluated annually.
