Job Description

Position Purpose:

The Purchasing Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the procurement needs of our Business Customers, ensuring the seamless supply chain operation vital to our enduring mission. This position demands a strategic approach to vendor management, inventory control, and cost-efficiency, all while upholding the Company's culture of growth and opportunity for all employees. By fostering strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams, the Purchasing Specialist contributes to the company's ongoing success and withstanding legacy in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies to optimize purchasing efficiency and achieve cost reduction targets, aligning with corporate objectives and stakeholders' requirements.

  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis and supplier evaluations to identify and engage with top-tier vendors, ensuring quality, reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, including operations, finance, and product development, to streamline purchasing processes and enhance supply chain performance.

  • Lead contract negotiations and manage supplier relationships to secure favorable terms and agreements that support the organization’s long-term strategic goals.

  • Monitor and analyze purchasing trends and data to provide actionable insights, driving continuous improvement and innovation within the procurement function.

  • Ensure accurate and timely purchase order processing and inventory management, maintaining optimal stock levels and minimizing the risk of supply chain disruptions.

  • Implement and maintain purchasing policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to corporate governance standards and promoting sustainable procurement practices.

  • Foster a culture of accountability and excellence within the purchasing team, providing guidance and mentorship to support professional growth and development.

  • Direct Manager: The Purchasing Specialist at directly reports to the Purchasing Manager.

Travel Requirements:

The Purchasing Specialist in the Company may be required to travel to various supplier locations and company sites to ensure compliance with procurement standards and foster strategic partnerships.


Physical Requirements:

The Purchasing Specialist position at the Company requires the ability to perform essential job functions in an office-based environment. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management.

  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing procurement strategies.

  • Proven track record of managing supplier relationships and negotiating contracts.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze and interpret complex data.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on achieving optimal outcomes.

  • Proficiency in procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.

  • Familiarity with inventory management and forecasting tools.

  • Strong understanding of market dynamics and sound business judgment.

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team setting.

Strong familiarity with ERP systems and procurement software to streamline purchasing processes and enhance operational efficiency.
Exceptional negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable terms and conditions that align with the organization's strategic objectives.
Awareness of sustainable procurement practices, emphasizing environmentally conscious sourcing decisions that contribute to the company's commitment to responsible enterprise.
Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for process enhancements and drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve operational excellence.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders to support organizational goals.
Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) are highly regarded.
Industry Experience: Prior experience within the landscape industry or a related sector is advantageous, offering insight into industry trends and challenges.

Minimum Education:

A Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Preferred Education:

A Master's degree or relevant professional certification is highly desirable.

Minimum Years Of Work Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, demonstrating comprehensive expertise in procurement processes and strategic sourcing within the industry. This experience must evidence a proven ability to effectively manage supplier relationships, optimize purchasing strategies, and contribute positively to the organization's goals.

  • Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) - Preferred
