This position is responsible for providing part-time clerical and administrative support for the County’s Human Resources Department.
Position Duties
- Provides first-line customer service to all employees either in person, by phone, or electronically.
- Supports the Human Resources front desk area by answering phones, greeting visitors, providing information and assistance, and referring to the appropriate staff member when necessary.
- Responds to inquiries from the general public on any areas pertaining to Human Resources.
- Communicates with other employees, departments, administrators, applicants, and the public for the purpose of providing information and assistance concerning any of the human resources concentrations.
- Provides assistance to applicants both online and in person.
- Assists with job postings and advertisements.
- Assists in the coordination of interviews by scheduling, communicating, and coordinating with both applicants and interviewers.
- Keeps applicants informed about the status of their application and provides any necessary information.
- Responsible for administrative functions in any area of Human Resources, including operational and technical duties from employment, application intake, computer entry, file maintenance, assisting with projects, and training coordination.
- Provides assistance to various levels within the Human Resources department; multiple tasks with time constraints.
- Assists with the administrative tasks related to onboarding new employees.
- Assists with job fairs and events by coordinating events to assist in attracting potential candidates.
- Assists in preparing and coordinating New Employee Orientations.
- Assists in coordinating typing tests when necessary.
- Assists with obtaining survey information and any reports required.
- Maintains confidentiality of records at all times.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of public sector human resources management.
- Knowledge of employment laws, regulations, guidelines, policies, and practices.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws, county ordinances, and department policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of employee confidentiality requirements.
- Skill in problem-solving.
- Skill in prioritizing and planning.
- Skill in interpersonal relations.
- Able to become gradually familiarized with the Human Resources applicant tracking system with the assistance of system training modules and staff support.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.
- Must be proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Software.
- Must have experience in the use of office equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D. from an accredited institution.
- Must have at least one ( 1 ) year of general clerical work experience.

Complexity/Scope of Work
- The work consists of related clerical duties. Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to provide clerical support for the County’s human resources functions. Successful performance helps ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of those functions.

- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles.
- Moving oneself in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
- Moving to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions.
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Driving a County vehicle or a personal vehicle for County business.
- Light work that includes carrying objects up to 20 pounds.

Other Requirements/Information
- Must possess a valid and current driver's license.
- Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this job. Pre-employment drug/alcohol testing, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and criminal background checks are required.
- This position is covered by Civil Service; therefore, is subject to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations in addition to all other Webb County policies.
