Position Summary

Tampa Bay Newspapers Inc. is growing. As we expand our footprint across the region, we are launching 3 new monthly local newspapers to serve the Manatee County community - and we’re looking for a driven Media Sales Representative to lead advertising sales for these publications. 


Tampa Bay Newspapers publishes award-winning weekly newspapers across Pasco, Pinellas, Hernando, and Hillsborough counties. As an independent affiliate of the Tampa Bay Times, our team represents a robust portfolio of print and digital products, including tbt Weekend, Bay Magazine, and a full suite of digital marketing solutions designed to help local businesses grow.


This role offers a unique opportunity to build and own a market. The Media Sales Representative will be responsible for developing new business, establishing strong community partnerships, and driving both print and digital revenue in Manatee County - with a primary focus on the launch and success of these new publications. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, relationship-focused, and energized by the opportunity to grow something from the ground up in a hybrid work environment.


Responsibilities

  • Lead advertising sales efforts for the launch and growth of the Manatee County publications
  • Identify, prospect, and close new print and digital advertising opportunities 
  • Build, manage, and grow a book of business within Manatee County 
  • Develop customized, strategic marketing solutions for local businesses 
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with business owners and community leaders 
  • Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and proactively manage opportunities 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to execute impactful advertising campaigns 
  • Meet or exceed revenue targets and contribute to overall market growth 


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of media sales or related advertising experience 
  • Proven ability to prospect, negotiate, and close new business 
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills 
  • Experience working with CRM systems and managing a sales pipeline 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams 
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills 
  • Valid driver’s license required
