- Two years of college in Building Construction or related field or eight (8) years related experience in an environmental field;
- Must have a valid Georgia driver's license and maintain a good driving record;
- Ability to obtain and maintain certification in the following areas: Asbestos Inspector/Management Planner and Asbestos Supervisor. Other hazardous material and environmental certifications are preferred;
- Extensive experience with radon, lead, underground storage tanks, solid waste management, Right to Know, fire codes, etc. is preferred. Ability to grasp and implement related codes and legislation is required. Background in EPA, NFPA, ADA and other regulatory guidelines required;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.
- Knowledge of environmental safety regulations and ability to enforce applicable codes and compliance standards
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage records, inspections, and multiple priorities
- Effective communication skills, including report writing and training delivery
- Ability to supervise staff, coordinate contractors, and lead safety or emergency response efforts
- Proficiency in environmental inspections, hazard assessment, and standard office software systems
- Ensure implementation of all code enforcement related to environmental service areas.
- Maintain all records of activity related to environmental services areas (e.g., Underground Storage Tanks, Asbestos, etc). Ensure that those records are updated and maintained.
- Conduct required training and certification.
- Supervise and monitor all abatement and management activities related to environmental services areas.
- Serve as principal investigator if any reports of problems in environmental services areas.
- Write reports and correspondence related to this area.
- Conduct inspections in all DCSS facilities at least twice yearly for environmental services and other related areas of responsibility.
- Serve as the Emergency/Safety Response Team Leader.
- Maintain and coordinate fire safety equipment services e.g. fire extinguisher, dry chemical suppression, fire alarms and sprinkler systems.
- Right to Know Officer and Committee Member.
- Serves as the Building Manager for the Facilities Services Department.
- Assist contractors on all renovations pertaining to hazardous materials.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate staff, trainees, and students assigned.
- Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, email systems). CAD background preferred.
- Must be able to conduct environmental services, Right to Know and other job related training for employees and do public awareness training within the school system.
- Must be or able to be respirator qualified.
- Strong communication skills able to build a good rapport with employees, school staff, students, and contractors demonstrating a cooperative and approachable attitude
- Perform other duties as assigned by Assistant Director(s) and/or Director(s).
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom for extended periods of time;
- Ability to occasionally lift or move instructional materials and classroom supplies (up to approximately 25 pounds);
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and assist young students as needed;
- Work is performed primarily in a classroom environment with moderate noise levels typical of a school setting;

JOB SUMMARY:
The Dougherty County School System is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Environmental Services Coordinator to oversee environmental safety, compliance, and regulatory operations across all district facilities. This position is responsible for managing programs related to hazardous materials, code enforcement, inspections, and safety systems to ensure a safe and compliant learning environment for students and staff. The coordinator will lead environmental initiatives, maintain accurate records, supervise abatement activities, and collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies while serving as a key leader in emergency and safety response efforts.
