Job Description

About the Department

Teach LPN and ADN Nursing classes to a diverse student body using effective teaching strategies; develop, revise, and maintain course materials; recommend/design new programs and/or courses; maintain office hours; participate in appropriate professional development opportunities; participate in College and community activities, promote the mission of the College: develop/implement retention strategies and evaluate their effectiveness; assist in graduate placement; attend graduation ceremony; assist with student orientation and registration; serve on College committees; promote institutional goals; assist the dean with administrative responsibilities. Teaching may be on all campuses, or by distance learning. Instruction/Clinicals may be days, nights, weekends or a combination.

TEACHING PERFORMANCE – The ability to present course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process.

INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT – The development, revision, and maintenance of courses and curriculum through course objectives, outlines, and appropriate materials.

 INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT – The effective use of required office hours, exhibition of effective classroom management and control, and timely and accurately submitted reports.

STUDENT ADVISEMENT – The participation of the faculty member, when applicable, in assisting students in personal and professional development.

COLLEGE AND/OR COMMUNITY SERVICES – The participation in College activities and the promotion of the College through public service.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT – The participation of the faculty member in activities designed to develop professional skills so as to maintain and improve proficiency in his/her present position.

Position Duties

Masters in nursing degree with an unencumbered active license as a registered nurse in South Carolina or another compact state, and 5 years of recent clinical experience in the primary area of responsibility. The experience must be in nursing care or nursing education as a registered nurse, including instruction, conducting/managing learning experiences, evaluating student achievement, providing input into curriculum development, policy/procedure development, and program evaluation.


Minimum Qualifications

Simulation experience in the related field of expertise.

Other Qualifications

Professional, collegial, and ethical conduct, decisions, and relationships are expected at all times. Evening, weekend, and overnight hours/travel may be required.
