Summary

Design Engineer I is an entry level engineering position. Design Engineers I provide design of engineering elements within projects. Apply engineering principals and standards for development of studies, designs, construction documents and oversight of construction activities.  Design Engineers I are expected to be able to operate CADD systems and CADD based programs, if appropriate for their technical discipline.

Essential Functions: include the following.

1. Determine appropriate application of technical methods of the work and verify compliance with criteria.
2. Monitor current design trends/methodologies related to their area of expertise.
3. Participate in the development of engineering design studies and reports.
4. Participate in the development of engineering design details, specifications, contract drawings and estimates.
5. Perform design calculations.
6. Field work as team member for inspections, locate utilities, various topo items, etc.
7. Research SHA and County Records, such as for plats, deeds, records, etc.
8. Earthwork and other quantities.
9. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering required
• EIT/FE Preferred
