SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Director of Sales, the Catering and Events Manager will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional guest experiences and driving revenue through meticulously planned events across our hotels as well as supporting other properties within the Collared Martin Hospitality portfolio.

This position involves overseeing all aspects of event coordination, from initial client consultations to the execution of seamless events that reflect our brand's commitment to quality and service. The Catering and Events Manager will work collaboratively with clients and internal teams to create tailored event experiences, ensuring that every detail aligns with our high standards of customer satisfaction. This role requires strong organizational skills, a creative mindset, and a passion for hospitality, as you will be responsible for generating new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients.

 

LOCATION: Boston, Massachusetts — supporting multiple properties across the Collared Martin Hospitality portfolio (frequent travel required). Evening and weekend availability required to support live events.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales & Business Development

§  Key Contact for Groups: Support the Director of Sales as the primary liaison for groups in-house, ensuring seamless communication and coordination across hotel portfolios.

§  Business Development: Develop existing business and actively solicit new catering opportunities both locally and regionally, expanding our reach and influence.

§  Event Coordination: Book, sell, and plan/coordinate special social events, assuring the highest level of customer service and satisfaction throughout the process.

§  Revenue Generation: Generate revenue by establishing new accounts, monitoring booking space, and maintaining high-quality standards. Conduct catering sales presentations and make sales calls to attract new clients.

 

Event Execution

§  Manage Banquet Event Orders: Own and manage all Banquet Event Orders for upcoming events at all hotels, guaranteeing every detail is executed flawlessly.

§  Menu Planning: Plan food and beverage menus that cater to clients’ preferences and special requests, creating memorable culinary experiences.

§  Customer Satisfaction Focus: Ensure that all events meet or exceed client expectations by providing exceptional service and addressing any concerns promptly to enhance overall guest experiences.  Ensure all operational departments have the critical information they need to assist all clientele.

§  Collaborative Event Planning: Work closely with clients and internal teams to create customized event experiences that align with the Faraway brand, incorporating themes and unique elements that resonate with guests.

§  Feedback Collection: Gather and analyze feedback from clients and guests post-events to continually improve service offerings and address any areas for enhancement, fostering long-term relationships and repeat business.

 

Cross-Property Coordination

§  Partner with the General Managers at each property to oversee and support event operations across the Collared Martin Hospitality portfolio, coordinating event logistics, aligning operational needs, and ensuring consistent quality, service standards, and seamless execution across every property.

§  Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with catering management software — including Tripleseat, Opera Cloud, Visiting Media, Toast — and other digital tools to streamline event planning processes.

Requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS

§  Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in event planning, catering management, or a related field, preferably in the hospitality industry.

§  Education: Four-year college degree or 2 years of college and 4 years of work experience required.

§  Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and external vendors to ensure event success.

§  Leadership: Experience in leading and developing teams.

§  Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills for clear presentations.

§  Negotiation: Strong negotiation skills for managing contracts.

§  Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to identifying and solving issues.
