Job Description:

The Senior Process Maintenance Mechanical Fitter is responsible for performing advanced mechanical maintenance, repair, and installation tasks on process plant equipment to ensure optimal reliability, safety, and efficiency. This role provides technical leadership, mentoring, and support to the maintenance team while ensuring compliance with company standards and statutory requirements.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform complex mechanical fitting tasks on pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, valves, and other process equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance activities.

Leadership & Mentoring

  • Provide guidance and technical support to junior fitters and apprentices.
  • Manage contractors on a daily basis
  • Provide coverage for the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Provide Supervision during Shutdowns
  • Assist in planning and scheduling maintenance activities.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
  • Participate in risk assessments and implement safe work practices.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis and reliability improvement projects.

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Prepare reports on equipment performance and maintenance trends.
Qualifications:

Essential

  • Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in process plant maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

Desirable

  • Experience in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance principles.
  • Basic welding and fabrication skills.
  • Exposure to mining or mineral processing industries is useful
