About the Department
Assists Community Center Manager with all aspects of operations and maintenance.
Position Duties
1. Assists Recreational Center Mangers and other recreational supervisory personnel as assigned.
2. Helps oversee and participates in group activities, especially those involving children and/or senior citizens.
3. May demonstrate techniques for sports, games, and other group activities.
4. Helps develop new skills and interest.
5. Performs minor grounds keeping and housekeeping tasks; straightening up and putting equipment away after group activities are finished; picking up litter; dusting, sweeping, etc.
6. Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications
1). No high school diploma required.
2). Experience working with the public.
3). A genuine liking for people and a strong desire to help the young, the old, the
disadvantaged, and the handicapped; ability to relate to people;
4). Capacity sufficient to acquire necessary experience and teaching techniques; an analytical mind to organize and apply knowledge and eye-hand -foot coordination are the most significant worker requirements for Recreation Aide.
Other Qualifications
2. Sharpness of thought, vision and hearing is needed to perform daily functions and communicate with patrons and staff.
3. Occasional exposure to wet/humid environments in the pool and locker room area
5. Constant standing, walking, and climbing in a multi-level facility to observe recreation center activity for safety and hazards.
6. Frequently lifting of fifty (50) pounds from floor to waist, thirty-five (35) pounds from floor overhead to set up tables and chairs and stock supplies;
7. Must be able to frequent carry, push, pull fifty (50) pounds of weights, supplies, workout equipment, carts, game balls/equipment, and material up to 100 feet;
2. Work is performed in a public recreation facility where high volume and noise can be a distraction along with frequent exposure to cleaning chemicals.
Travel will be required locally from location to location to accomplish assignments and visit job sites.
