Pay: $70,000 to $85,000 depending on your skills and years of experience

What You'll Do:

As a Substation Engineer, you'll tackle dynamic projects that blend your technical expertise with creative problem-solving, including:

  • Crafting and developing conceptual designs for electrical substations based on client specifications and project needs.
  • Performing critical technical analyses and calculations to ensure systems operate safely and effectively.
  • Troubleshooting electrical challenges and implementing innovative solutions to optimize substation performance.
  • Ensuring designs and operations meet industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Visiting project sites to assess existing substation conditions and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborating with clients to deliver impactful utility project solutions.
  • Supporting construction planning and project execution.
  • Managing communication with project teams and department leaders to keep projects on track.

What You Bring to the Team:

We’re looking for talented engineers who thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Your toolkit includes:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, particularly in high and medium voltage systems.
  • Familiarity with power system analysis, protection methods, and industry equipment/vendors.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and the MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and technical accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to work effectively with clients and teams.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field plus 2+ years of experience in utilities, consulting, or similar industries.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is preferred.
  • Coursework or experience in power systems, electrical design, protection systems, and substations is a plus.
  • Additional certifications in substation design or project management are a bonus.
