A senior living community is seeking an experienced Licensed Assisted Living Director (LALD) to lead an assisted living and memory care community in the Metro, MN area.
The community is undergoing leadership transition with a focus on strengthening operations, accountability, and long-term stability. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who understands Minnesota assisted living regulations, financial performance, occupancy management, and team development.

Position Summary
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall operations of the assisted living community, including:
- Regulatory compliance (MN 144G)
- Budget and financial oversight
- Staff leadership and retention
- Occupancy growth
- Resident satisfaction
- Survey readiness
This position serves as the licensed leader of the community and is accountable for day-to-day performance and long-term stability.
Responsibilities
Operations & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Minnesota Assisted Living regulations (144G)
- Maintain survey readiness at all times
- Oversee quality assurance, documentation systems, and risk management
- Lead state surveys and corrective action processes
- Monitor policies and procedures for regulatory alignment
Financial Management
- Manage the operating budget and monthly financial performance
- Control labor costs and operational expenses
- Review P&L statements and adjust strategy as needed
- Improve financial performance through strong operational oversight
Leadership & Staffing
- Hire, develop, and hold department leaders accountable
- Build a professional, stable leadership team
- Address performance concerns promptly and appropriately
- Promote a culture of clear expectations and follow-through
Occupancy & Community Relations
- Partner with sales and referral sources to support occupancy growth
- Maintain strong relationships with hospitals and community partners
- Oversee move-in process and retention efforts
- Support reputation management within the local market
Resident Experience
- Ensure consistent delivery of quality care and services
- Address resident and family concerns in a timely manner
- Promote engagement programming and resident satisfaction
Qualifications
Required
- Active Minnesota Licensed Assisted Living Director (LALD) license (required)
- Leadership experience in assisted living, memory care, or long-term care
- Strong knowledge of Minnesota 144G regulations
- Experience managing budgets and operational performance
- Ability to lead teams and improve accountability
Preferred
- Experience leading a building through state survey
- Proven occupancy growth results
- Strong operational turnaround experience
Compensation & Benefits
- $90,000 – $110,000 annual salary (DOE)
