Summary:
The Greyhound Early Learning Center is seeking a childcare worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children in our care. The childcare staff member will work closely with other members of the team to ensure that the needs of the children are met and that they are receiving the highest quality of care possible.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children in our care
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and programs for children
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress and development
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding of children
- Administer first aid and medication as needed
- Attend staff meetings and professional development trainings as required
- Follow all center policies and procedures
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a childcare setting
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- CPR and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to pass a background check and TB test
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.

POSITION: Assistant Educator of Young Children
BUILDING: Greyhound Early Learning Center at Union Street
DATE OF AVAILABILITY: Immediately
RATE OF PAY: $13.73 (Level 1 Base)
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must meet and adhere to all Michigan State Department of Human Services requirements to be a
caregiver. This includes, but is not limited to, current TB test, Criminal History Check (ICHAT),
DHS Clearance
2. A minimum of a high school diploma or GED required with child development courses at the college
level preferred
3. Early childhood experience and/or training desired
4. Must be able to relate well with young children
5. Must work well with other staff members in a cooperative and professional manner
6. Must follow child care discipline policy
7. Good work ethic and excellent attendance record required
8. Ability to follow directives as assigned by supervisors
9. Must treat each child, parent, colleagues with dignity and respect
DUTIES:
1. Under the direction of the teacher, will assist in preparing instructional materials for use by students,
while assisting individuals and small groups with learning activities providing classroom support as
needed.
2. Provide appropriate care and supervision of children at all times, adhering to center and licensing
rules.
3. Be a positive role model in actions and appearance for the children and fellow staff.
4. Receive 16 hours of training annually, adhering to the guidelines outlined in the childcare licensing
book.
5. Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.
6. Other administratively assigned duties.
