    Job Title:  Interventionist

    Position Summary/Purpose: Coordinate Response to Intervention (RTI) process.  Lead the data collection, analysis, and problem solving procedures relative to the RTI model.  Provide coaching and staff development in all aspects of RTI, including but not limited to data analysis, interventions, and instructional techniques.

    Role and Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions:

    • Model effective instruction of students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations
    • Targeted, small-group, or 1:1 MTSS instruction to students who are struggling academically.  They use data to identify learning gaps, implement evidence-based strategies, and monitor student progress over time.
    • Understand and apply current scientifically-based reading research, reading development, and developmentally appropriate instruction for students
    • Coordinate the RTI process including data collection, analysis, and Tier II and Tier III interventions
    • Coach teachers in the process of adapting teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests
    • Use computers, audio-visual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations
    • Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress
    • Facilitate RTI meetings within and across grade levels
    • Serve as a liaison to ensure communication and understanding between administrators and teachers relative to RTI interventions
    • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher-training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence
    • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required
    • Interpret the results of standardized ability and achievement tests to determine student strengths and areas of need
    • Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of elementary school programs including intervention strategies
    • Administer screening and diagnostic assessments
    • Track student performance regularly (often weekly or biweekly)
    • Maintain detailed records of interventions and outcomes
    • Work closely with Differentiation Specialist
    • Work closely with classroom teachers to align instruction
    • Participate in RTI/MTSS meetings (Response to Intervention/Multi-tiered system of supports
    • Share student progress and strategies with parents/guardians
    • Provide guidance on how to support learning at home
    • Prepare, plan, and provide staff development in the area of RTI interventions
    • Perform other duties as assigned and appropriate to the position

    Qualifications and Education Requirements:

    • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement(s) for the specific teaching assignment.      Reading Endorsement and/or Curriculum preferred.
    • As a multi-language district, we always prefer staff who are bilingual but it is not required for this position.

     

    Working conditions / Environment:

    Physical Demands: mobility within the instructional area and throughout the school facility, visual acuity close/distance/depth perception, hearing to receive information, verbal to exchange information.  Physical demands often include walking, sitting, bending, twisting, stooping, reaching forward, lifting up to 25 pounds, pushing and pulling.  

     

    Environmental Conditions: indoor climate controlled school environment.  May include being outdoors for extended periods of time throughout the year.
